It is adorned with two consoles supported by four different Renaissance-style busts. The lower part includes a drawer, and has a door carved with fantastic animals in the center that can be opened. The cabinet is framed by two chimeras.

A copper plate bears the inscriptionMEUBLES SCULPTES - BELLANGER – FABRICANT – 61, Rue des Sts Pères. PARIS " (Carved Furniture – Bellanger – Manufacturer).

Neo-Renaissance style , circa 1870.

This piece was created by the cabinetmaker BELLANGER, who was one of the talented Parisian artisans at the time of the great World Fairs . He received a medal at the World's Fair of 1867 in Paris.
Bellanger's workshops, located at 61 rue des Saints-Pères in Paris, produced eclectic furniture. Eclectic objects referred to the History of France, as this Neo-Renaissance style display cabinet refers to the Renaissance, but there were also styles from more recent times, like from the absolute monarchy of the 18th century Palace of Versailles, especially the Louis XV style. The ability to produce such high-quality works of art from these different time periods shows Bellanger's workshop's skill.
