This pair of store display furniture was made around 1870 in rechampi wood.
Rectangular in shape, these pieces of furniture are composed of large shelves, surmounted by a series of cupboards with painted heraldic decoration, interspersed with molded columns on the front.
The taste for medieval art and its forms appeared during the 19th century in Europe and North America, first in architecture before also affecting furniture and art objects. This influence is characteristic of Historicism, an artistic current that developed in the 19th century until the inter-war period, and was inspired by the forms of the past.
