In good condition with its aged patina. The gilt is slightly used.
This 19th century firescreen is inspired by the Louis XV style with its fretwork. Similar pieces, in gilt bronze with handles, were shown at the World's Fairs . It is decorated with a putto "à l'escarpolette" (on a swing), evoking the gallant spirit of the eighteenth century.
