This Napoleon III spark guard featuring musical cherubs was executed in the second half of the 19th century.
It features characteristic ornamentation of the Louis XVI style: its frame is adorned with geometric friezes interrupted on the lower crosspiece by a cartouche. The center of the object is decorated with two cherubs resting on clouds, one playing the lyre, the other writing a musical score. Its top is adorned with garlands of roses held by ribbons; in the center,
the ribbon also holds a quiver full of arrows and a flaming torch echoing the little cherubs.
