This fireback is a 19th century edition based on an 18th century model. A Chinese character serves tea with a small monkey. The decoration is inspired by a drawing by François Boucher (1703-1770).
A fireback of the same model furnishes a fireplace hearth located at the Grand Trianon at Versailles Palace .
