Beautifully carved, the main feature of the mantel decoration are the bowed greyhound heads on each side. The overmantel egg-and-dart frame is flanked by pilasters topped with capitals decorated with horns of abundance.
The hearth is framed by a Red Languedoc marble mantel, and the large three panel cast iron insert represents the same themes of greyhounds and horns of abundance surrounding a French royal crowned coat of arms. The two side panels are covered with a pattern of ermine spots.
