The straight sober lines of this antique Louis XVI period mantel are characteristic of the Louis XVI style. The carved features add character to the fireplace. The jambs are decorated with pilasters that are both filleted and fluted. Although the jambs are straight, the tapered pilasters create a visual illusion of tapered jambs. The top of the jambs are decorated with rosettes set against frames. At the center of the entablature there is a guilloche frieze adorned with flowers set against a slightly protruding rectangular pearled frame, which is flanked with rectangular panels.
This fireplace is sold without any insert nor marble floor but they can be made to order.
