This beautiful antique Louis XIV style mantel from the 19th century is based on the volute model. A Bolection molding, typical of the style, runs around the opening, and is enhanced on either side by a large scrolled volute that brings depth and geometry to the composition. Carved in the depth of the marble, these volutes create a succession of levels and a powerful backdrop. The whole mantel is adorned with moldings, which play with the composition and the color of the Marquina marble.
