This Neo-Renaissance-style mantelpiece was carved in stone and marble in the 19th century.
Its ornamentation is based on the architectural vocabulary of the Italian Renaissance. The jambs feature a colorful interplay of marble and stone: two marble semicircles at either end of the jambs respond to a rosette disc set in a cartouche carved in stone. The lintel is adorned with a regular décor of semicircular arches reminiscent of early Renaissance architecture, beneath which are finely carved flowers evoking palmettes or, in the center, a female face in antique profile. The spandrels are adorned with marble triangles, adapting to the space. The top forms an architectural cornice.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but could be made to order.
