Paul Pouchol's Workshop for the Compagnie des Arts Français (after 1942)

Dimensions
Width 7'' ⅛  18cm
Height 23'' ⅝  60cm
Depth: 6'' ¾  17cm

Origin:
After 1942

This Venus Anadyomene can be attributed to the workshop of the ceramist Paul Pouchol. In 1942, he founded a workshop specializing in the creation of glazed ceramic figures. He worked closely with the group of artists at the Compagnie des Arts Français, which had been directed since 1935 by the renowned architect and great talent scout Jacques Adnet. The Victoria & Albert Museum holds a naiad created by Paul Pouchol in 1950 (inv. C.163-2014). The signature under the base is illegible (Max B…?), likely one of the artists from Pouchol's workshop
