diameter: 22'' ⅞  58cm

Origin:
late 19th Century

MILET (Ceramist) and DIFFLOTH (Decorator) created this exceptional collaborative work, emblematic of high-end artistic production in Sèvres at the end of the 19th century. The MILET manufacture, established in Sèvres, is renowned for its technical mastery and its close proximity to the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, while Émile DIFFLOTH brought his genius as a colorist and his naturalistic vision to the firm. The central motif features a delicate spray of wildflowers—likely bindweed or morning glories—executed with a fluid, asymmetrical composition directly inspired by the Japonisme movement, which was highly fashionable at the time. The white petals, subtly tinged with pink, and the finely veined leaves stand out elegantly against a cream background speckled with deep blue. The richness of this piece lies in its sophisticated surface treatment: the background is brought to life by a scattering of small stippled dots and stylized plant motifs in low relief, creating a luminous vibration beneath the glaze. A cobalt blue rim provides a clean finish, framing the organic scene and highlighting the perfect circular form of the charger.
