Made of cast iron in the 19th century, this fireback presents a scene illustrating the fable "The Fox and the Goat" by La Fontaine. The scene depicts a fox standing on its hind legs facing a billy goat whose head is the only thing visible, the rest of its body being in the well. A pine forest is visible in the background.
