This Louis XV-period fireplace is carved in Campan, a marble from the Campan site on the Payolle plateau in the Hautes-Pyrénées. The choice of this mark brings great pictorial qualities to the fireplace, due to the pattern of the marble. The fireplace is carved in simple forms. On the band, the borders of the inner part of the fireplace form part of the central motif, with carved scrolls highlighting the circle motif. The rest of the band is adorned with moldings that follow its shape. The fireplace’s legs are composed in the same way as the band, with moldings marking the surface of the leg and a circle in the middle around which the moldings are organized. This fireplace is accompanied by its cast iron interior, also in the Louis XV style, recognizable by its sinuous lines inspired by the movement of water, taken from the Rocaille style. These lines surround the central human figures, framing the scenes depicted.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert and with its marble floor.
