This antique Napoleon III style fireplace mantel was made in the 19th century in Skyros marble. The bandeau is decorated with an imposing garland falling on the top of the jambs.
Skyros marble is a very crystalline limestone with a Breche-like appearance, with veins of black mica (biotite) and generally with an alignment of minerals.
Its decorative aspect, which can range from white to yellow to rosé, makes Skyros marble very popular and highly sought-after.
This fireplace is sold with a modern cast iron insertv but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availabily).
