This elegant Regence style fireplace was made in the 19th century. Its rather large dimensions are inherited from the Louis XIV style, softened in this Regency style by the curved shapes of the frame, the shelf and the console jambs. The Carrara marble has been carved with care, for all the details, including the side panels, the moldings of the shelf or the bollection of the frame.
The entablature is decorated in its center by a large rounded cartouche framed by foliated scrolls, richly carved with elegant details. The Carrara marble is precisely cut giving an impression of suppleness to the ribbed leaves.
The consoles are topped by scrolls, to which correspond the curves of beautiful shells, above fine little bellflowers.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order.
