This Carrara marble fireplace is in the Louis XVI style, blending motifs from nature with motifs from Ancient Greece.
On the band of the fireplace, branches of laurel leaves crisscross in a regular pattern, forming a frieze of geometrical motifs. In the center of the frieze, the branches are tied together with ribbons.
The console part of the leg is decorated with acanthus leaves placed vertically like the capital of a Greek column. The rest of the leg represents the shaft of a fluted column. On this fireplace, field flowers are interspersed between the various flutes and the hollows are filled in at the end of the leg. A fine frieze runs around the inside of the fireplace.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
