Fireplace in veined marble made in the 19th century in the Louis XVI style. The straight frieze is adorned with a row of fluted grooves carved into the marble, each recess set with applied gilt bronze asparagus ornaments. The ends of the frieze are highlighted by square floral motifs in gilt bronze, framed by moulded panels. The curved jambs feature stop-fluted pilasters, topped with a projecting band and bordered on the sides by a vertical string of gilt bronze beads. The mantel shelf is moulded, slightly projecting, and rounded at the front. The marble is light in tone with grey and beige veining. The fireplace comes with a cast iron insert decorated with a repeated pattern of rosettes, as well as a matching hearth composed of veined light marble and red marble.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert and with its marble floor, which is broken but will be restored in our workshop.
