19th century, France

This beautiful Louis XVI style fireplace was made in the 19th century in a beautiful Fior di Pesco marble.
It is adorned with bronzes carved with remarkable quality. Acanthus leaves drop down on the slightly curved jambs decorated in their lower part with curled bronze border. At their extremities, two naturalist square rosettes, typical of the Louis XVI style, are faithful to the 18th taste for ornaments inspired by nature. The frieze is traversed by patterns which evoke waves, called ""Vitruvian scrolls"".
The Fior di Pesco marble with pink and purple veins was used in the 19th century for exceptional works of art such as the extraordinary fireplace in main hall of the Napoleon III appartments at the Louvre museum. Its beautiful, turbulent veins add to our fireplace ornament and sophistication.
This fireplace, with a majestic look, also has important dimensions that contribute, like the marble used, to its rarity and its exceptional character.

This fireplace comes with an antique cast iron insert adapted to this fireplace but without the original marble floor. This one could be made to order (ask us for marble availability).
