Made in the 19th century, this fireplace in white Carrara marble reflects the taste for the Louis XV style, with a curved façade and finely sculpted decoration. The gently arched panel is adorned at its center with a stylized palmette carved in relief, framed by a sinuous cartouche. This central composition is enhanced by a simple molding that follows the soft lines of the façade. The jambs, shaped as inverted consoles, display the curved lines typical of the Rocaille aesthetic. Their upper part is carved with a foliated shell in relief — an emblematic motif of the Louis XV style — here rendered with restraint. The bases are slightly projecting and rest on molded plinths. The mantel shelf follows the flowing movement of the façade, with a central projection and a discreet molded profile. The cast iron insert features a central decoration in the shape of a stylized shell, framed by understated geometric motifs.
This fireplace is sold with a modern cast iron insert adapted to this fireplace but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
