This Louis XV style mantelpiece was made in the 19th century, in Carrara marble. The ornamentation of its lintel is organized around a leaf inscribed in opposite volutes, and decorated in its center with a frieze of pearls of decreasing size. It gives rise to two leafy branches which spread out on either side. The moldings that adorn the lintel follow the sinuous curves of the mantelpiece. The upper ends of the jambs present volutes wrapping around leaves also decorated with pearls; below, they are organized around two opposite volutes. Just above the base, the second wraps outwards, around a large leaf. The sides of the fireplace are decorated with a groove framing adorned hot-air vents.
This fireplace comes with an antique cast iron insert adapted to this fireplace but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
