19th century.

Good condition.

This exceptional Gothic Revival style gilded wood mantelpiece was carved in the 19th century. Its decorative vocabulary, gilded on a natural wood base, is inspired by Gothic architecture. Its lintel is divided into four distinct parts, separated by beadings decorated with alternating friezes of pearls and ribbons. Inside these cartouches is an abundant plant pattern evoking 15th-century Gothic architecture, rich in "choux frisés". This pattern is structured by three semicircular arches evoking Romanesque architecture (a large one subdivided into two smaller ones), the ends of which are adorned with three stylised pine cones echoing the motif of the lateral beadings. The jambs feature a real architectural doorway like those which can be found in Gothic churches: two windows with Gothic infill occupy the inside of a door surmounted by a gothic gable decorated with "choux frisés".

This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor floor but could be made to order (please ask for availability).
