This Louis XVI period fireplace is in Carrara marble, a white marble with gray veins quarried in the Apuan Alps. The presence of multiple gray veins is what makes this fireplace so distinctive.
The length of the band is decorated with a garland of laurel leaves. This garland is supported by rings at the center and ends of the band. At the center of the fireplace, a circle is formed with the garland, creating the motif of a laurel leaf wreath, a motif much used in the Louis XVI-style.
The console part of the leg is adorned with a floral motif formed from acanthus leaves superimposed and carved in a circular shape. At the top of the leg, we find part of a laurel garland hanging from a circular knob and ribbon. The rest of the base is covered with molding.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
