This pair of neo-Gothic iron fire dogs replicates the architectural form of a Gothic pinnacle. The pointed arch, quatrefoil decoration, and tracery in the shape of a mouchette all contribute to this aesthetic. The creeping monsters on the sides, the cabbage leaves, and the pinnacle at the top emphasize the verticality of these distinctly 19th-century fire dogs. One vertical element is missing from the back of one of the fire dogs.
