Impressive mantel garniture composed of a central clock surmounted by a winged sphinx and flanked by two obelisks. The ensemble is richly decorated with Egyptian symbols engraved and inlaid in brass, mother-of-pearl, and semi-precious stones on a structure of black marble and green onyx. The clock base is flanked by two winged sphinxes in patinated bronze, while the circular brass dial is signed “Lesnard – Bordeaux,” a clockmaker active at the end of the 19th century. The obelisks feature stylized hieroglyphic decoration evocative of the monumental architecture of Pharaonic Egypt. The composition is crowned by a majestic female sphinx — a symbol of wisdom and power — finely sculpted in bronze.
