Small Neo-classical style pedestal table in patinated bronze and Noir Fin of Belgique marble with sphinges decoration and lizard

This Neo-classical style pedestal table was made of patinated bronze and Noir Fin of Belgique marble in the second half of the 19th century.
It supports a circular slab in Noir Fin of Belgique marble adorned on its center with a bronze medallion depicting in an ancient background, Virgil reading to sitten men in front of him. We can also read the following words ""VIRGILIVS APVD MECENATEM
TVA MECENAS HAVD MOLLIA JVSSA".
The ionic fluted column in patinated bronze supporting the slab is decorated above the capital with a sat sphinge and on the rest with climbing lizard. The whole is resting on tree feet adorned with palms and claws feet put on a base made of Noir Fin de Belgique marble.
This pedestal table could be paired with reference 13463.
