Imposing carved Soignies stone vase in the Louis XVI style, presenting a refined and symmetrical ornamentation typical of the neoclassical aesthetic. Soignies stone, a blue limestone quarried in Belgium, is renowned for its hardness, fine grain and exceptional resistance to weathering. The curved body of the vase rests on a moulded square base. The fluted belly is decorated with a bead frieze and punctuated by large handles in the form of finely carved ram's heads. The pyramidal lid is underlined by a sculpted ribbon knot in relief. This work demonstrates a high degree of mastery in stone carving, particularly evident in the rendering of the horns, fleece and foliage.
