This antique Empire style fireplace was made during the 19th century in a beautiful Belgium black marble decorated with gilt bronze ornaments. The black and gold combination and the fine ornaments and lines of this fireplace contribute to its elegance. Two columns constitute the jambs and support a frieze decorated at its ends with rosettes and at its center with legendary creatures : kind of griffons are facing serpents with stylized curves and frame a face whose the spread hair recalls the solar myth. This ornamental repertoire and this fireplace model with two columns are typical of the Empire style.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but could be made to order.
