This Louis XV style mantelpiece was made in the 19th century in Carrara marble. The ornamentation of the lintel is organized around a central plant-like shell, from which emerge plant scrolls adorned with delicately shaped flowers (a rose on the left, a daisy on the right). These scrolls are completed with ribbons. The sinuous curves of the fireplace are highlighted by moldings. The jambs are decorated with scrolls covered with shells intertwining with plants (a flower in the middle, foliage at the back) ending with a daisy pendant; their lower end forms a leafy volute above the base. The sides of the mantelpiece are molded, and have rectangular hot-air vents.
The cast iron interior has a grotesque decoration matching the style of the fireplace.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert and with its marble floor.
