This dish of Far Eastern inspiration is a beautiful collaboration between the ceramist Théodore Deck and the painter Eléonore Escallier. It is signed "TH.DECK", numbered and signed "ELEONORE. ESCALLIER. FECIT. MDCCCLXXI." and dated 1871. Éléonore Escallier collaborated with Théodore Deck since the 1860s before entering the Sèvres factory. She painted flowers and birds in a naturalist style. Two other dishes resulting from the collaboration between these two artists are preserved in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
