This imposing Louis XVI style fireplace was carved from red Griotte marble and features elaborate gilt bronze decoration.
The frieze is adorned with gilt bronze foliage, alternating different decorative motifs. Each jamb is surmounted by a female bust in the classical Greek style, with braided hair and draped clothing, over which some strands of hair fall.
The jambs are also decorated with floral friezes and Greek key patterns, terminating in large carved acanthus leaves.
The cast iron insert features decorative elements characteristic of the Louis XVI style, including foliage, laurel wreaths and beaded borders.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
